Meet Kristin Gurney
MSW, LICSW, MMHPC, CFT™
Psychotherapist

Specializing in menopause-informed therapy, midlife transitions & financial wellness.

You deserve a therapist who takes the time to understand what you’re carrying, helps you make sense of what’s changing, and works alongside you as you figure out what comes next.

Areas of Expertise and My Approach to Therapy

Evidence-based therapy for adults navigating life's transitions, with specialized expertise in perimenopause, menopause, anxiety, and financial wellness.

Menopause- Informed Training

Trained specifically in menopause-informed care, I understand the physical, cognitive, and emotional shifts of this life stage and bring that understanding directly into our work together.

Curiosity & Compassion

Therapy doesn’t have to begin with having everything figured out. I bring curiosity, compassion, and a judgment-free approach to understanding what’s happening and what might help.

Whole-Person Approach

Menopause, mental health, relationships, work, caregiving, health, and finances don't happen in isolation. Therapy considers what is connected, what may be contributing to distress, and where meaningful change can begin.

A Welcoming Space

Therapy is a place to explore what you’re experiencing without judgment or pressure to have it all figured out. You’ll be met with curiosity, compassion, and respect for your experiences and what matters to you.

Certified in Financial Therapy

Money affects far more than finances. Specialized training in financial therapy and financial social work helps address the stress, emotions, relationships, and life transitions connected to money.

Collaborative Care

Mental health is one part of whole-person care. When helpful and with your permission, I’m happy to collaborate with other providers involved in your care so your support feels connected rather than fragmented.

Hi, I'm Kristin.

I'm a psychotherapist who works with adults when things that used to feel manageable suddenly don't, and they're trying to understand what changed.

I've spent much of my career working alongside people through cancer and serious illness, caregiving, aging, loss, financial stress, and major life transitions. I knew how much physical health can affect emotional well-being, relationships, work, finances, and our sense of self.

And then perimenopause entered my own life, seemingly out of nowhere.

Despite my background, I wasn't prepared. I didn't have the education to understand what was happening or the tools to navigate it.

What surprised me even more was how hard it was to find support. I didn't just need information about symptoms. I wanted a therapist who understood how the physical and emotional changes of perimenopause can show up in daily life, relationships, work, and identity.

I couldn't find that person.

At the time, I couldn't have told you what menopause-informed therapy should look like. I just knew I needed it, and that other people probably did too.

That changed the direction of Klea Therapy. What began with a focus on financial well-being grew into a practice that makes room for the realities of midlife. I pursued advanced training in menopause-informed mental health and began combining it with everything I'd learned throughout my career.

Start where you are

You don't have to know what's wrong or what you need from therapy before you begin.

Some people come in knowing exactly what they want to work on. Others simply say, "I don't feel like myself anymore."

We can start there.

The experience I bring

My professional background includes oncology, medical social work, hospital-based case management, and long-term care.

Those experiences have shaped how I see people and the concerns they bring to therapy. Health, caregiving, relationships, work, finances, grief, identity, and the systems we have to navigate don't exist separately from one another.

Neither does your mental health.

I bring that perspective into the room.

What therapy with me is like

I'm curious, collaborative, and practical. I'll ask questions, listen, and help you slow things down enough to understand what's happening and make connections that can be difficult to see when you're in the middle of it.

What we do from there depends on you.

Sometimes you may need space to talk and process. Other times, I may offer education, share something I'm noticing, help you prepare for a difficult conversation or medical appointment, or suggest something to try between sessions. I may send you a video, handout, or resource when I think it could be helpful.

I tailor our work to what you need, where you are, and what you realistically have capacity for. Sometimes the work is about making a change. Sometimes it's about understanding yourself differently, navigating something you can't change, or finding your voice when you haven't felt heard.

You deserve a therapist who takes the time to understand, takes your concerns seriously, and works alongside you as you figure out what comes next.
